Fifty Shades Darker

Monday October 8th, 2012

I’ve been putting off this post, but I think it’s time now. In fact, I’m almost running late! It’s becoming old news already… And I’ve been thinking why it took me so long to write it. While, with the first one, as soon as I finished it, I felt the urge to write about it here. I don’t know…

But let’s get down to business: I still love Mr. Grey. More and more each time. What happened with the second book was that the several painstakingly described erotic scenes became a bit exhausting. Like, o.k., they made love, but then what? I kept waiting for the plot to unfold.

Btw, if you haven’t read any of the books and don’t want spoilers, stop reading here, o.k.? Because I’m going to share all my impressions. I started reading it full of expectations, devoured the book in a single day and a night up. It’s a fairly easy read. Pleasant. But what I said above is that I ran out of curiosity over the whole eroticism and was much more into the e-mails exchanged (again!) and the actual story.

To see that guy giving in to love is so beautiful… Delightful! And we root, celebrate with the couple! Not to mention the crime atmosphere set in this book, which causes some frisson. I enjoyed it. I want to read the third one, though, and I just can’t wait for the translation, I’m starting it today, with the English original, to make my final conclusions.

It’s funny that Mr. Grey is a constant dinner table subject. And the boys (most of the times) can’t get their heads around the guy’s sky-high popularity. They feel outraged at such an “eccentric” personality being able to stir us up.

BOYS, I’ll explain: the reason we’re so crazy about this guy is that he picks THE ONE and goes for it. There is a ton of incredible women around him and he won’t look around for a minute. He’s monogamous. Focused. And focus is not a common feature among boys nowadays, is it? The supply is endless so they (you!) end up barking up the wrong tree most of the times. So, this is my tip for you: FOCUS!

Even if just for one night… Pick your Anastasia and go. For her. Just her…

In my (super humble opinion!) that’s what makes Grey so appealing to us… He can have whatever woman he wants and yet he aims for one of them. Just one. Desperately her. I don’t know if there are still any men like that available… Whole. Open to a deep encounter. To ditch the shallowness. With an only one. His chosen one.

Hope so, right, girls?

Now I want to hear from you… What did you think of the second book?

Looking forward to hearing it!
