Pina Bausch with Kontakthof

Have you ever heard of Pina Bausch? German dancer, choreographer, dance educator and company director? This post is dedicated to her!

I don’t know if I’ve ever talked about this here, but I’m a true dance lover. Really. I danced (classic and modern) ballet my entire life and since I was a little kid I’d go with my mom (who’s also passionate about it!) to watch the big (or the not that big) companies’ presentations in São Paulo.

I say Pina is dance-theater. Sometimes, more theater than dance. They tell stories while they slide through the stage and it all comes from exercises and experiments based on the dancers’ lives. Most pieces were co-choreographed. They also came from the great inspiration she had during the tours and in the cities she passed by.

It’s a process of reading people, you know what I mean? Human reactions. Interactions between masculine and feminine the entire time. It actually worked as an inspiration for Pedro Almodóvar’s film Hable con Ella, in which Pina appears in a fantastic dance scene. Just so you understand how far her message reaches. Reached. Pina died in 2009. But her company keeps going and travelling around the world with a repertoire of many original pieces.

I went to see Kontakthof (or Contact Patio). It went on for a month (ended yesterday!) here in New York and it was sold out the first week. Expensive tickets. Gorgeous theater, in Brooklyn, same where Caetano Veloso played last month. It was a three-hour (with a 15-minute interval) presentation.

It’s all about twitches, tics, habits. Types and tricks. She never not approaches a subject in the name of good taste. She points fingers, provokes. It hits each person in a different way. It depends pretty much on what your weakness is.

I read on the internet that Kontakthof was conceived with the dancers from the Tanztheater Wuppertal, in 1978. Then, in 2000, it was recreated by seniors, over 65 years old. I really wish I’d seen that version!

Then, in 2008, with teenagers between 14 and 18 years-old. This last process made for the Dancing Dreams (haven’t watched it yet but it’s on my list!) and now they’re back with a mixed cast: “It doesn’t seem logical to me to evaluate dancers with Miss Universe standards. Personality is much more important than a scale or measuring tape.”, I also found this quote of hers on the internet.

And that’s exactly what we see. Dancers of all ages and styles, all full of personality.

Genius!

I really enjoyed what I saw. Breathtaking. I fell in love. Rejected some. Sighed. Endless feelings throughout those three hours. And and left wanting more! Feeling like watching the whole repertoire!

So if the Pina Bausch company is in the same city as you are, please go.

I’m sure you’ll see a show about the pains and the perks of being human in such a complicated world!

Thank you, Pina Bausch!

I’m not interested in the way people move, but in what moves people!” (Pina)

Ben’s Cookies – The best in the world!

I’m a cookie addict. Like, really. Hardcore. The only thing that beats it is brigadeiro. Which is the top of my food chain!

But the cookie… Oh, the cookie… It’s almost a draw. In fact, I’ve been eating more cookies than brigadeiro lately. Maybe because it’s so easy to find the most amazing ones at every corner here. I guess that’s not so easy in Brazil… Don’t know! All I know is that I’ve been eating a bunch of it… A lot of delicious ones. Of all sizes. Fillings. But none of those (so far!) has beaten the good old Ben’s!

Has anyone tried it? Have you heard about it? It’s older than me! The brand exists since 1983.

It’s a chain with stores all over Europe and Asia (they don’t have U.S. or Brazil locations yet :/) which has the BEST COOKIE EVER. No kidding… I swear! It’s unbelievable…

So I decided to forget about nyc for a moment and change the subject here. Ready?

If you’ve ever been to London, you’ve probably passed by one of those little red doors!

You may have not paid attention, walked by on a rush (I almost did! I was dragged inside by a friend whom I don’t know if a love or hate for that!) but it’s almost impossible to miss one of those. They have over 10 shops. All over the place. They’re stronger in London and Seoul (capital of South Korea, which makes the visit a bit more complicated!). And it’s out-of-this-world wonderful.

I’m completely crazy about the milk and white chocolate chunk flavors.

I buy it in boxes, always. To have it throughout the trip and then bring some to Brazil.

And, well, I don’t even have much to say – it’s the kind of thing you have to try, for words are not enough to describe it…

You must have a bite.

It melts in your mouth, but it’s crunchy at the same time. Contains enough chocolate for us to enjoy, but not over the top that makes us feel sick (or miss the cookie!). It’s unbelievable…

Those who have tried it please help me with the adjectives on the comments, since I’m missing the words here!

I’ve tried SO MANY other flavors and brands around here. Again: there’s a bunch of good stuff around (and bad stuff too: when the cookie is served kind of floppy, mushy, you know? Makes me wanna die!). But nothing, nothing at all, has come close my beloved Ben’s.

If you’re in London or Seoul, please have one for us! So jealous of you having this treasure at every corner!

If you haven’t tried it (and you’re neither in London or Seoul!) put it on your to-do list ASAP!

And here I am craving it…

No doubt it will be my first stop when I’m back in London!

Counting the days!

😉

Matisse at the Moma

Art overdose around here, right? Yeah, I know…

And I also know that this is not the most popular post subject among you guys. On the contrary… That’s the kind of post that receives fewer likes and comments. I don’t know if it’s because you don’t have much to say or are just not interested. Only you can tell me…

Anyway, I just can’t go without talking about it!

I’m not an art expert! I’m far from that and I’ve said it several times. I’m just like most of you. My relationship with art is limited to looking and finding it beautiful or not. Looking carefully. With love. Reading a bit about the artist I’m about to see. Going briefly through his story. Grabbing a friend who’s more of a connoisseur to go with me, or just an audio guide, really, and dive in. Seeing if it speaks to me. If it touches me. If it makes me flow.

I love the environment. Museums are for curious people. Interested people. The exact kind I want to be around. People who might not know a thing about the subject, but takes the invitation and goes for it. That works for everything in life. That’s how my days go… I wake up and think: what can I do for myself today, you get what I’m saying?

Of course, living in NY really helps… But I guess that, when you’re interested, the place you’re at doesn’t matter much. It’s really about ourselves and what’s inside us. So I’ll never be able to make someone who hates museums feel like trying it. I don’t even have that ambition. I really don’t! But I’ll keep sharing with you guys the exhibitions I visit (only the best ones, I promise!) so that even those who are not very much into it can know what’s going on in the art world, you know? A tiny bit (to be really humble) of knowledge. Culture. Sharing what I just received. I don’t know… Trying somehow to bring this world closer to those who don’t know it and are curious about it, but don’t have the opportunity to get to it. Or sharing it with those who do know it but won’t be in nyc while the exhibition is on. Basically just sharing my feelings and thoughts (and those things only!) without any special authority on the subject. Really just to share. After all, that’s what I’m here for, right?

That said, let’s move on to the exhibit I went to see yesterday at the MoMA.

I don’t know if I’ve said that before, I probably have, but MoMA is my favorite museum in nyc. I just LOVE their permanent collection: Dalís, Mondrians, Monets, Fridas, Van Goghs, Warhols

LOVE it! So I went to see the exhibit of Brazilian artist Lygia Clark last month and spent an entire Sunday there. Seeing everything again and again, in details. So many strong pieces! Must go. Mandatory!

And then… I went back there yesterday! Out with Lygia, in with Matisse. That’s what I’m here to talk about.

The exhibition“Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs” was a hit even before getting to nyc, due to its huge success at the Tate Modern, in London. Endless lines. A real smasher!

Same here in nyc. You have to arrive early, get your timed entry tickets and still wait for a little while in line before you get in. That’s how crowded it gets!

But it was worth every minute and dollar spent!

Henri-Émile-Benoît Matisse (1869 — 1954) was a French artist who dedicated himself almost exclusively to collages.

According to a very nice guide who was leading a group of Chinese people (I’m always paying attention to other people’s guides, since the museum audio guide doesn’t go through all the pieces) said he was, along with Picasso and Duchamp, one of the three most important artists of the 20th century.

He used to paint on paper sheets, mostly birds, and then cut it, assembling different organic forms into rich, simple combinations. That’s the phase the exhibition focuses on. His last working years. And there are over 100 pieces from that time, the most important of his work. The biggest reunion of those pieces!

I didn’t know much about it… And I was astonished!

Listening to the introduction and explanation of each piece at a time certainly helps, right? Makes you understand and pay attention to things you wouldn’t notice were you wandering aimlessly around the exhibition. That’s how I fell in love with Matisse, little by little. Painting by painting. There’s a video of him in one of the rooms, which I spent some minutes gazing at. It shows him working. Cutting the paper molds he used to hang on his studio walls. With his sharp scissors. Playing a ballet with his hands.

This was the first time these paintings from the Blue Nude series were hung together in the same room. All on the same wall. They are variations on the female body, cut by Matisse’s own hands! I was just dreaming of sending them all to my place…

All the pictures were taken from the MoMa website and other websites since it’s strictly forbidden to photograph the paintings!

Another artist for my list of favorites!

Thank you, MoMA! I owe you one more!

Memories of storm king

I got to New York this year with a list of must-dos! Stuff I hadn’t yet done and I just couldn’t go without! Sometimes I think “moving” somewhere makes us a bit accommodated. We feel like we have so much time to do stuff that we always end up leaving it for tomorrow. Has this ever happened to you guys?

I came to stay for a few months. Carrying my list with me. But since I had “a few months” to do it all, why rush, right? “I have the time… I can do it another time!” And suddenly I realized I had only another month ahead of me. Five months had gone by in the blink of an eye. How’s that?Who let time go by so fast? We have to pick up our pace… And that’s what I’m doing!

Speaking of culture, besides the countless mandatory museums in Manhattan and Brooklyn, I got here dying to see Dia:Beacon and Storm King. I started at Beacon and went nuts. They have an outdoor and an indoor area. Contemporary art. So, so amazing. I wrote about it here! And yesterday was for the magical Storm King.

It’s an hour and a half away from Manhattan. You can go by car (best option if you have more people with you! You get there faster, can come and go as you please and if the car is full, it’s even cheaper!), by bus (that’s what I did! 46 dollars both ways + park tickets! Super easy, it goes into the park. The only thing is that you have to go at 10am sharp and leave at 4:45 pm) or train (I didn’t try it so I can’t tell! But I heard the stop is a little far from the park, so you have to take a cab) Click here so you can see all those options in detail!

So you’ve decided to head there, called your friends (actually, it makes for a pretty romantic day! Super, super romantic! Perfect for a date!), checked the weather?Yeah, because Storm King is 100% outdoors, so, if it rains, you’re screwed! Well, then go for it! Super comfortable shoes and clothes to walk, walk, walk and throw yourself on the lawn without restrictions!

I went with a group of friends! I really think this is a the-more-the-merrier kind of activity! Pack some snacks and drinks and go for a delicious picnic on their gardens. Another advantage of going by car – you can pack all that stuff and leave in the car for later!

There aren’t many spots to eat but you’ll find some pretty comfortable tables to lay some wine and cheese. Delightful! Their café is pretty modest and also outdoors! A good pick is their organic, locally produced cola beverage.

There are over 100 gigantic installations (the one on the picture is called Suspended, by israeli artist Menashe Kadishman) from renowned artists on their permanent collection. All over the park, which is equally gigantic!

Total art-and-nature connection.

One of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen…

Another interesting fact pointed out by a friend who’s been to the park four times is that every season makes for a different park. The colors of the trees and leaves change a lot. Not to mention the climate. Very hot. Very cold. Windy. Dry. Humid. Anyway… The experience is always different. The sensations too. Every time of the year has its beauty, but if I had to pick one, it should be fall. Most beautiful season! Lucky me!

The trees are installations on their own right. They exceeded all my expectations.

They have a little train that goes around the whole park. I recommend you take it to take a look around. Or, if you’re in for some exercise, a bike (10 dollars for an hour! A bit pricey, right?). And then you walk…

We did it all by foot. No problem… But everyone enjoyed walking. It’s important that everyone is into it.

Some of the amazing pieces we saw around:

Three Legged Buddha (2007) by Chinese artist Zhang Huan.

Schunnemunk Fork (1990-1991) by American artist Richard Serra And
Mirror Fence (2003) by american artist Alison Shotz.

Adonai (1970) by Russian-American artist Alexander Liberman.

This is one of my favorites. Maybe my favorite. It’s called Storm King Wavefield (2007-2008) by american artist Maya Lin.

Too bad the picture can’t convey the magnitude of the piece. It’s seven layers of grass waves. You have to walk up, down, lay on it… It’s amazing! So beautiful!

Is a real synesthetic experience. So much beauty envolve…

Mandatory if you’re in nyc!

And I say it again: one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen..

Thank you, God!

Begin Again

I’ve been so negligent with my film watching the last few months! That’s so serious. Months went by without me going to the movies. Haven’t been to it once since I got to New York. I got addicted to TV series (after Scandal I started watching Gossip Girl – Better late than never! – I’m about to finish season 3!), not to mention the American TV, which I also love, and, of course, lack of time.

I’m hardly ever at home. Which means I haven’t been to the movies once or read a single book since I got here. Go ahead, judge me.

I’m pretty pissed with myself too…

There are some stuff missing but there are also other stuff flowing! No life postponing here! It’s just that there’s too much to do and so little time.

To make it even harder, I enrolled in a bunch of classes. But then, I forced myself to do it! On Sunday, I made myself look for a good movie to watch and talk about here. And I found a pretty charming one. Not one, some! I’ve watched two movies. But let’s go one at a time…

The title is Begin Again. In Brazil, it was translated into Portuguese as Mesmo se Nada der Certo, and I guess it’s in theatres already, right? Has anyone seen it? If you have, please share your thoughts!

It takes place in New York, which is half the battle for me to enjoy or get involved with a film!

And it features two actors I LOVE, who influenced my choice for this title to begin with (again) (pun intended): Keira Knightley gracious as always and Mark Ruffalo, whom, the sloppier the clothes, the messier the hair, the more deconstructed the character, the more I find him charming! Last but not least, Adam Levine is also in the cast.

It’s the story of a couple of musicians. She’s more talented than him. And he’s the one who becomes a smashing hit. And puts her aside. Then she meets a producer who’s been at the top but is now practically off the market and believes she’s got what it takes to become a star. And she decides to take the risk.

It’s so cute to see their encounter. Keira and Ruffalo’s characters. They way they make room for each other. I’m coming from a Blair and Chuck intense moment (those who saw GG will get me!) so my heart is completely vulnerable to life’s ups and downs. The infamous timing, which is almost never in our favor. It’s just so hard… (And such a good chronicle subject!). And the film is about that too.

About Adam… I don’t have much to say. I guess he’s always good to look at. He’s the kind of person you feel like listening to for hours… But not much of an actor. Nothing wrong with his work. On the contrary, I believe he played it right by the book. No big deal. But always that I look at him I can only see Adam. The singer. Maroon 5. The Voice. Especially when he’s playing an equally successful singer! So I just didn’t go with it.

When I saw Justin Timberlake at Friends with Benefits, for example, I really bought it! I definitely forgot it was Justin. But in this film, I don’t know… It just didn’t happen. Not with Adam.  But then again, it was delightful to stare at him on the big screen, talking about love, singing and all. Be ready for lots of music, piano, guitars, band, and loads of studio recording scenes.

The film is quick. Goes by fast. Nothing fantastic, though. A nice pastime. Is good to see the chemistry between the couple. I really bought it with them. But when the film is over (I’m not telling you how, of course), it seems like there’s something missing. At least for me… That was the feeling.

Pretty cute. Nice to see the work and chemistry by Keira and Ruffalo. Adam playing. Not more than that though.

It’s perfectly fine to wait for it to be out on Netflix and watch in the comfort of your own home with a bowl of popcorn.

No rush to press play!

Best pizza I’ve ever had

When we think of the United States, we think of pizza, cheeseburger, hot dog, cupcake, cheesecake… Don’t you agree? At least the people who come here to see me are always craving Shake Shack or Burger Joint. The feeling I have is that they sort of open the cage, finally feel free to eat all kinds of terrible stuff they deprive themselves of in real life. Does that make any sense? That Sunday kind of vibe? That guilt-free pizza order (after all, it’s Sunday!), only more intense. Heavier. After all, a trip is a much stronger excuse than an ordinary Sunday. So I feel like people really dive into a sea of calories.

Since I have always been pretty detached from any food restrictions, never deprived myself from anything, I don’t feel that eagerness to go after those treats. I’ve probably had pizza about two or three times throughout these four months here in nyc. I’m much more into looking for new restaurants, getting to know the most recent talk of the town, having some good wine, a great burrata… Oh, burrata… Anyway… I usually go for hot dogs or pizza late hours (when there’s no kitchen left open!) and cheeseburgers when I’m taking my guests on tourist rides. But it’s not the kind of stuff I usually crave.

But the fact that I don’t crave it and that I’d much rather go after the best burrata than the best pizza in town doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy it. I LOVE pizza. I’m really into the Sunday pizza tradition. It’s just that in my food love hierarchy, it’s a little behind. In a place with that many options, I feel like having pizza and cheeseburger is kind of in vain, you know what I mean? Hope I’m being clear here…

I’ve always thought that pizza and cheeseburger are both no-brainers. Ok, some are better than the others, tender meat, melting cheese and all that. But still, it’s kind of the same deal every time. Harder to mess up with that kind of stuff. Also hard to surprise. You kind of know what to expect.

Well…

Kind of…. You knew!

Or at least thought you knew!

Now I know that I actually had no idea!

I’ll explain…

Last weekend, Thaila (Ayala, my nyc gift! ♥ Who manages to be more of a bottomless pit than myself) suggested we had some pizza. She said the name of the place, asked if I’d heard of it (I had never) and put it on google maps (we can’t live without it!).

So we headed there. And she started to explain to me the experience I was about to have: “get ready for the best pizza you’ve ever had. No kidding!”.

Off we went.

Artichoke (for those who don’t know!) is a vegetable. And the name of the place. So Thaila instructed me: “You have to order the artichoke pizza! I’ll order two, one each!”. Me: “But… Artichoke? I’m craving some sausage, with loads of cheese. I’ll order one of those for me and a try a bite of yours!”. Her: “Dude, don’t make the same mistake I did. That’s exactly what I did when I first came here and after the first bite of my friend’s artichoke slice, my portuguese lost its meaning entirely”. Ok, Thaila. You won!

She promised it was super cheesy, and she was so assertive (our taste is pretty similar! Two kids in the kitchen, basically!) that I went along. Two artichoke slices, please! Fingers crossed…

And you know what?

One bite was more than enough for me to understand what she was talking about…

UNBELIEVABLE! Unbelievably delicious.

Perfect. Full of cheese.

I can spill every existing adjective and yet I won’t be able to convey the delight it was to have that pizza. Impossible to explain. And I know you’re all thinking I’m exaggerating (I mean how come an artichoke pizza is the best pizza ever? My father always says that pizza is all about cheese, anything else is a frill!) so I won’t even try to put it in words… I just ask you give yourselves the chance to get to know this place and try this piece of heaven!

I’m counting the days ‘til I have another one of those…

Has anyone here ever tried that pizza?

Please tell me you did! And, if so, help me on the comments to explain how incredible it is…

Am I exaggerating?

If you haven’t tried it yet, put it on the top of your nyc’s must-gos!

I’m no longer saying that all pizzas are about the same thing. Never again. I promise.

In fact, after Artichoke, it will be hard to find a pizza that fulfills me so deeply…

Thank you, Thaila! I owe you that!

Churros (+ croquetas!) in NYC!

When we’re away from home for a long time, certain things become much more valuable. Things we took for granted and had no idea we enjoyed so much. No, I’m not talking about family… Not this time though! I’m talking about food!

I really, really miss our homemade Brazilian food! Boy, do I miss some breaded steak, rice, beans and fries (Hi, mom! Here’s a hint of what I’ll need when I’m back! See you soon!). I think I’ve talked about pão de queijo (cheese puffs) here, right? If I haven’t, I’ve certainly have on instagram! Because on both times I’ve made it in NY (I found it in a Brazilian grocery store!) I posted about it!

So… It’s this kind of stuff! I’ve always loved pão de queijo. I just didn’t know how much!

Same with churros!

I’ve even wrote a post on how to make delicious homemade churros, remember that (Missed it? Here it is!)? I can’t even think about it without craving it so badly! And nowadays there are so many restaurants with churros on their menus. Me (and many of my friends) go to Pobre Juan in Rio de Janeiro only thinking about the dessert! Those amazing churros immersed in a glass of dulce de leche. It’s been on my instagram a couple times too! Because you can’t just have the cake, you must instagram it too!

So… Last Sunday, a friend of mine casually said: “I’m craving churros! Let’s have some?”. And I was like: “Churros? How come they have that in nyc?”, almost losing it. Real abstinence syndrome!

I’d never spotted churros here before! In fact, if anyone has any other tips of places that have churros on their menus here, or anywhere else in the world, just tell me about it on the comments! Let’s make this list bigger together!

Anyway, off I went! Crazy about it! My mouth watering… And I got to a super cute place in the heart of Soho!

The place is really tiny! But super charming. They have sweet and savory options on their menu. But their pièce de resistance (their name can’t lie) are the churros.

We ordered some croquetas (like our croquette, only round and stuffed with chicken) for starters. With a pinch of salt, though, since croquettes are made with meat, right? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it… And, you know what? We had a second portion – that’s how good it was!

But we let’s not lose our focus, the churros – this is our #CandyCrush tag and it’s the churros I’m here to talk about. I just couldn’t let the croquetas go unnoticed… I’m certainly going back there for them! Even more than the churros (guilty!).

The place is really cute! Go for an afternoon snack. Before going back to the hotel for a pre-dinner shower. Or go for dessert! Coffee + churros? Sounds good!

Go and surrender to their treats…

They have it with chocolate and the good, old dulce de leche.

I don’t even have to say which one I ordered, right? Dulce de leche. Lots of it.

I even treated myself to an extra portion!

I enjoyed the churros. It was enough to ease my food-homesickness! Pretty tasty! It’s just that they had to be REALLY fantastic in order to beat ours. And, well… They weren’t. But they made me happy enough. Got it?

Hope so…

And don’t forget about the croquetas!

😉

MUST GO: FUERZA BRUTA + SLEEP NO MORE

Every time I get to write about something that’s really obvious, a widely known subject or a cliché tip, I get a little scared of disappointing you. Like, “they probably know it all backwards, Julia”. Get it? So I let some of the stuff go… But, with some other things, I have a feeling that I should mention it. Even if a bit late. Even if years later.

The Grey’s Anatomy post was a perfect example of one of those things. I knew it was a pretty old subject, that I got to it with a 10-year delay, but I couldn’t help it. When I’m caught up on a subject, I leave my pride behind and admit I’m late! After all, there might be a bunch of people who for whatever reason also didn’t catch up on that.

Today’s post is another good example of that. Two old (but still pretty alive) New York attractions.

Let’s go through one at a time…

I guess Fuerza Bruta is no news right? Has anyone there never heard about the group?

They’re from Buenos Aires and have been making presentations all over the world for years. Over 10 years. They’re pretty well-known.

It’s a show-theater. Dance-theater. Circus-theater. Party-theater. Definitely an experience. A pretty good sensorial experience, I might say.

You get in through a bar. Good music playing. So everyone waits over some cocktails for the doors to open. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Forget about heels. You’ll be standing up for the entire show. Dancing along with the artists. Jumping. Standing still. Mesmerized. Some people will even fly. But that I’ll leave for you to find out when you’re there… No spoilers!

I had seen it in São Paulo and Buenos Aires. And last Sunday I went for the first time in New York. By myself. All by myself. And I left it astonished… It was fantastic! I don’t recall being so moved the other times. But also it’s been so long that I don’t remember well… Maybe because all the other times I was in a large group (which makes for an INCREDIBLE night out, but steals your focus a bit), I don’t know. What I know is that this time it really got me! I was mesmerized. They’re really good.

So, if you’re in nyc and haven’t yet seen it, go! It’s mandatory!

A good idea if you’re trying to save some money is to arrive about half an hour before the show (I did it by accident, didn’t event know about this discount), get in the ticket line and buy it for a special last minute price! The regular tickets cost 99 dollars and I paid 20! I couldn’t believe when the girl at the checkout told me… So keep it in mind! Just make sure it’s not sold out! I had no problems, got there, waited in line for a bit and bought it.

Whether you buy it in advance or on the spot, doesn’t matter, JUST GO! MANDATORY!

You’ve probably seen many people who come to nyc post pictures of themselves wearing a bizarre white mask, with a huge chin, you know what I’m talking about? Have you seen it?

It’s the mask we get when we enter the hotel that hosts the show Sleep no More. The idea is to make all participants anonymous. And if I said Fuerza is a sensory experience, I’d say Sleep is… Is… I can’t even explain… Can’t find the right word to describe it. You have to go in order to understand.

It’s a British Theater company that was born in the year 2000 but got to nyc only in 2012, mixing several references from Hitchcock movies and Shakespeare plays. But I guess I shouldn’t go much deeper on the references or my own experience since it’s a pretty particular thing.

For Fuerza you can go on a large group, invite all your friends and have a good time, you know? Sleep, however, is an introspective experience. I even recommend you go by yourself. No rush. Especially since you set your own schedule in there. You pick your entrance time and stay there until you think it’s enough.

By the end – and I have to say it’s REALLY worth it to stay until the last minute – you’ll be at a cosy bar with live jazz music. I guess to sort of digest all that you went through… It’s the icing on the cake!

A must go!

Go and enjoy yourself! Let it get to you…

Then you tell me how it went!

So, yeah. Those are my go-to shows of the moment. Again: it’s no news. They’ve been on for a while, but are full every day… And the funny thing is, after Fuerza on Sunday I went for dinner with two friends who live here for six years now and never saw it. What?? That’s when I was sure I should write about it. It’s never too late, right?

So take notes and, if you’re in town, don’t leave without checking it out!
